Step one is to create a Federal Student Aid (FSA) User ID and Password for both student and parent (for dependent students).  This step serves as the student and parents (if dependent student) electronic signatures.

Your FSA User ID and Password
Your Federal User ID and Password is your identifier to let you access personal information in various U.S. Department of Education systems, including applying for Federal Student Aid.
You can request a User ID and Password,
 at https://Studentaid.gov

Your FSA ID and Password can be used to:

  • Gain access to FAFSA/Renewal FAFSA on the Web at www.fafsa.gov
Use the  FSA ID and Password as an electronic signature to sign the FAFSA or obtain a copy of your FAFSA information
  • Make online corrections to your FAFSA
  • Review your online loan and grant history on the National Student Loan Data System
  • In order to download your federal student loan data, or NSLDS file, you will log into the https://studentaid.gov/ using your FSA ID and Password. You created this user id within the Federal Student Aid system when you completed your FAFSA and took out your loans.

If a student is determined not to meet academic standards, an appeal can be submitted to the Office of Financial Aid due by August 1st.  Both guidelines and student appeal form can be accessed through the link below.
